Get Paged is for verified search and rescue organisations and their approved crew only. It is not available to the public.

Get Paged

Get Paged is a callout and paging app for volunteer search and rescue teams. Authorised duty officers use it to page on-call crew, and crew use it to say whether they are responding.

Access is restricted. Only search and rescue organisations that we have verified can use Get Paged, and only crew that their organisation approves. There is no public sign-up, and members of the public cannot download or use the app.

How access and verification work

How a callout works

  1. The team is tasked

The tasking authority, such as HM Coastguard, tasks the team through its usual channels. Get Paged does not receive taskings and is not connected to 999 or Coastguard systems.

  2. A duty officer pages on-call crew

An authorised member, such as the duty officer or launch authority, sends a page. It goes to crew who are marked as available, either everyone or only specific roles. Ordinary crew accounts cannot send pages.

  3. Crew respond

Each crew member answers from the notification: Responding or Not Responding.

  4. The launch authority sees who is attending

Responses appear as they arrive, against the roles the callout needs, such as helm, boat crew and shore crew. The page, its sender, recipients and responses are logged.

What else the app does

  • On-call availability. Crew set regular times when they are unavailable, plus one-off changes. Crew who are marked unavailable are not paged.
  • Coverage. Officers can see whether enough crew with the right qualifications are available.
  • Roster and crew list. Each organisation defines its own roles and records who holds them.
  • Callout log. A record of each page and the responses, for officers and trustees to review.

Get Paged does not track crew location and has no in-app chat. It runs on iPhone, and an Android version that works the same way is on its way.
